HappyLearningKids.com is committed to making our content, tools, and games usable by as many parents and children as possible, including people with disabilities.
Our Standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA where practical across the site, including our articles, printables, and interactive games. This includes:
- Sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds
- Keyboard-operable interactive elements — our games and tools can be used without a mouse, including with the Tab and Enter/Arrow keys
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images
- Large, touch-friendly buttons and controls sized for children and for users with limited fine motor control
- Clear heading structure and readable, plain-language content
- Visible focus outlines on interactive elements so keyboard users can see where they are on the page
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix. As we add new games, tools, and articles, we review them against these standards, and we prioritize fixes when we learn something isn’t working well for a visitor using assistive technology.
Known Limitations
Some of our interactive games rely on visual and color cues (for example, matching colors or shapes) that may be harder to use with certain visual impairments or color vision differences. We are working to add text-based alternatives to these cues over time.
